VIRTUE AS A NORMALIZING PRINCIPLE OF PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION: THE LESSONS
Summary
The article explores the role of moral and ethical norms involved in public administration. In particular, one of the most important criteria for assessing the performance of a civil servant is the criterion of virtue. In this context, it seems appropriate to refer to the history of political thought, namely, to the period of the formation of the classical model of a democratic city-state in Ancient Greece. In the context of oeuvre of Plato and Aristotle, the founders of the basis of the European social and political thought, the problem of virtue as a principle of public administration acquires unexpected outlines.
